Started as a way station and supply town in the late 1800s, Parker is now a sophisticated ex-urban community in the midst of rolling hills and open space, yet with a small-town feel. The town wasn’t incorporated until 1981 when it had 300 residents. Since then the population has boomed to 42,000.

• Parker’s quaint main street features some of the town’s long-standing shops and restaurants. The Warhorse Inn is a Main Street fixture and draws locals for its steaks, pasta and Mexican cuisine. The Tailgate Tavern and Grill, another local institution, is next door to the Warhorse.
